NEWBORN PHOTO SHOOTS
With Baby Photography London is awash with the highly posed, what I would call twee, newborn portraits that seem to be more about the props than about the newborns. You’ll be pleased to hear I’m not going to subject you to hours of contorting your newborn into all sorts of unnatural positions. I class myself as a far more natural newborn and baby photographer.
Susan did an excellent job photographing our newborn. She has a lovely down to earth demeanor, and conducted the shoot from our flat – all of which kept my husband, our new baby, and me at ease. The photographs turned out beautifully. We’re very happy with the whole experience.
Home or studio?
I am happy to do both studio and home visits for my newborn sessions. The studio will give a more polished look and feel to the images as I can control the lighting and background more. A home shoot will give you more relaxed images that are softer and use only natural light. You should be able to tell the difference in the gallery but if not do ask
How long will the shoot be?
The shoot will take between 1 and 2 hrs with the usual length of time being around 1.5-2 hrs. This gives enough time for feeds and changes of clothing etc without worrying. You can park right outside the studio too so it’s very easy to get in and out.
When is the best time for newborn photo shoots?
Within the first 3 weeks is best for a newborn photo shoot. They will still be able to curl up in the faetal position and sleep a lot at this age but if you would like to do one later than this don’t worry, they are just as doable after 4 weeks too.
Do you photograph older babies?
Yes absolutely. If you’ve missed the newborn phase, don’t worry.. your baby is gorgeous no matter how old they are, it just means that the style of images changes slightly. Best times to capture babies are 3 months, 7 months and 12 months usually, but do check with me if you have only a limited time to do the shoot. My Motherhood Shoots are a great way to capture older babies as well as the strong bond between mother and child in this first year.

Where is your studio?
My studio is in Ealing, West London. I have parking on the road outside the studio and am easily accessible by tube (2 mins walk away).
When should I book you?
You should consider making a booking when you are around 36 weeks pregnant if you would like to have a newborn shoot within the first 3 weeks. If your baby arrives on a very different due date than predicted then this date is moveable so don’t worry – please see below to make a booking
Do I have to come back for an ordering session?
Not at all. I understand it’s hard to get out with a newborn and so will be placing your edited images online with a password where you can choose your favourites in your own home in your own time.
Does my baby have to be asleep?
No, your baby can be awake or asleep. We can do differnt types of images depending on what they are like on the day. I want this to be a relaxed shoot with no pressure at all, so don’t worry
How much does it cost?
My session fees for newborn shoots are £620 for up to 2.5 hours although I usually take less than this, this price includes 6 finished portraits in print and digital form. You can of course choose to upgrade from this once you have seen the images. If you would like a full price list just fill in the form below

Me and my husband enjoyed our pregnancy photoshoot with Susan very much. We got an advantage of a studio shoot with the professional photographer, backgrounds and light, combined with a very relaxed atmosphere. Susan made us feel home but stayed focussed on the shoot. First of all, if you are going to invest into maternity photoshoot - don't hesitate - just do it ! And Susan is the best when it comes to putting you at easy and making you feel sexy and comfortable in front of the camera. Her studio is beautiful, it feels calm and relaxing, even tea cups are gorgeous!I had so much fun doing the photoshoot and I absolutely LOVED the photos - ordered a few extra - just couldn't resist.So bottom line - embrace your pregnancy and do it in style with Susan, she doesn't know it yet, but I am definitely booking her to do my new-born shoot too:)

Such a fantastic experience! I came with my husband and my two-year-old boy for maternity photoshoot. We felt very comfortable and relaxed at the studio, especially my boy who enjoyed playing in the garden. Susan was very helpful to advise me on what clothes I should get for my boys, and this made the preparation process much easier. Loved all materials, I felt very comfortable at the photo shoot. Stunning photos!

I have been looking for an extra large scarf for a long time. They seem hard to find and terribly expensive. But today I lucked out and purchased an extra large forget me knot scarf. I am absolutely thrilled. it is absolutely exquisite and beautifully made and good quality silk. I wish I could buy all of them, they look amazing with dress up/ down casual and event pieces. The whole experience with Susan was amazing. She was great and flexible around the booking for the shooting session.The session itself was smooth and fun and while we were worried about how our toddler would behave, everything went so well thanks to Susan’s experience !We have then received the pictures within few days only (other photographers usually take much longer).Last but not least, the pictures were astonishing ! We never had pictures like these ones. This is the second time that my wife and I have had our photos taken by Susan; the first two years ago was for a maternity shoot and more recently we did a newborn shoot. On both occasions Susan put us at ease, especially when I am uncomfortable behind and in front of the camera. Susan was very patient with our daughter in our recent photo shoot, she gave easy to follow directions and was very good with her.Overall we had two fun and enjoyable experiences which resulted in some lovely photos.

I would recommend any pregnant woman to enjoy the experience of maternity photoshoot! The whole session was so fun. I was very nervous to begin with and felt like I was shaking in front of the camera. Susan has a very calming presence and is very talkative, so I was quickly distracted from those nerves and enjoyed posing in front of the camera by the end! Despite being so warm and friendly, she is also assertive & professional in directing the session and glides around capturing all the right angles and lighting to recreate your favourite looks or new postures that come to mind at the time. I had photos in quite a few outfits, with and without my husband, in different lighting, with different backgrounds and with dramatic chunky jewellery - and we absolutely love the portfolio - just a shame we can’t afford them all!! Nevertheless, we will treasure the photos we’ve chosen for a lifetime. Such fantastic memories of bump and the pregnancy as a whole. We can’t wait to see the prints on physical form (and maybe get one framed for the house). Totally recommend Susan for this creative type of photography! We can’t wait to return for a session with Bambi to capture both the “before” and “after” moments...

Thank you once again Susan for a great photoshoot! We used Susan for a newborn photoshoot with our firstborn. We did it in our house so definitely more challenging for a photographer compared to being in a studio. Susan was amazing! Second time, again a family photoshoot with our second baby in our home.
