How to choose the best places for photoshoots

What I’m looking for

Family and Pregnancy photoshoots are wonderful in the great outdoors.  The best places for photoshoots are a combination of meaningful to you, and with enough elements for me to create great images, which usually includes mature trees (allows for softer light in the shade and lovely backdrops), good long vistas (room to move and great blurry backgrounds) and not too crowded (I always want to find spots that make it look like you have the park to yourselves).

Why outdoors can be better than Studio

I strongly believe that I can get the best images of children by doing an outdoor family photoshoot.  Children naturally want to play and explore and don’t want to be restricted or confined.  There’s far more to look at and be distracted by outside, so if a child is struggling with mood, it’s far easier to get them in a better mood when we’re outdoors. In the studio, they need to be in a very small spot where the studio lights are perfect which is very restrictive for young ones.

The Light

I am very experienced using natural light and can always find the most flattering spots for soft light and gorgeous backgrounds.  I won’t photograph you in bright sunshine which will give you squinty eyes and dark cirlcles under the eyes, but look for elegant soft light by trees or backlit for a much better look.
