For family photo shoots Chiswick House in West London is a fantastic place with loads of different settings
Pros – it’s free to get in although they have recently introduced parking charges (£1 for 1 hr), it has a great selection of different backdrops to choose from including woodland, bridges, long path vistas, steps and to top it all it has a fantastic cafe!!
Cons – It is worth considering that this is one of the best places for dog walking around and although I have never had any issues with dogs whilst doing a family photo shoot, if you have a problem with dogs then it may be worth finding a different location.
Best time to go – Chiswick House can deal with most times of the year as there are enough backdrops that are either man made stone/buildings or non deciduous foliage that it doesn’t change noticeably. Autumn is always great in any park and this is no exception with fantastic colours in late Oct and early Nov.
Logistics – Chiswick House runs very close to the A4, one of the main arteries into London from the West. The car park is about 3 hundred yards from the Hogarth Roundabout and only charges about £2 for 2 hrs. Not bad really. It’s not really close to any of the tube stations but there are quite a few buses that run along the A4 so it’s not too hard to get to.
