Favourite Location no.6

If you’ve landed on this page from Google then this is one of my top locations for taking family photo shoots.  Do take a look at my full family portfolio before reading about Hyde Park below.

Kensington Family Photographer

Kensington Family Photographers love to use Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens in Central London covers 350 acres which is home to a number of famous landmarks including the Serpentine Lake, Speakers’ Corner and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain.  It is huge and therefore I usually pick a certain corner to work in so that we don’t have to walk too far.  I have also described Holland Park on another page as I also use this park loads.

Pros

Very easy to get to, this park has a huge expanse of open area to play in which is free, lots of different environments to explore and great cafes.

Cons

This park is very busy and very open which makes cropping other folk out of the images quite hard.  I would recommend the south east corner where there are some more sheltered areas, this allows us to take family shots that appear as if you have the park to yourselves.  It’s a long way between areas so best to stick to one corner, near the loos if possible! No trees to climb here through.

Best time to go

Spring and Summer I would say, lovely grassy areas and great big trees as backdrops.  Autumns are lush aswell with the colours and less people.

Logistics

Nearest tube station for where I like to meet is Hyde Park Corner on the Piccadilly Line.  You can also park near the Serpentine lake without too much difficulty.  I do a lot of families that are visiting the capitol in Hyde Park as it’s easy on public transport and a lot of the great hotels are nearby.
